This also applies to sizes, they must correspond to the age / height of the child, and design in general, it must be designed for the use of furniture by the child.And, of course, Maria Montessori did not notice it, but we will say that such furniture must be safe when used independently by a child.
What does Montessori inspired nursery mean in practice?
A bed is one on which the toddler can climb on his or her own, and from which he/she can get off independently.
That is, beds in this approach, in principle, should not be high, some parents even equip children with a sleeping place on the floor.
Shelves are open and accessible in height and location for the child. So that the child can make a decision on his or her own and, most importantly, carry out his or her plans, which toy to play with now, which book to read, etc.
Children's functional furniture duplicates adult furniture - that is, the child has his/her own, suitable and safe for self-use table, chair, wardrobe /hanger, washbasin.
Learning/kitchen tower - so that the child can still take an active part in family life, even if it means using "adult-scale" furniture, for example, kitchen tables, kitchen sink, etc.
